It’s not often that NBA players get drafted out of the G League. Even rarer are instances of African prospects joining the G League directly and getting drafted from there.

This season features two such prospects, who have the chance to make African basketball history in that regard. Both have legitimate claims to consider themselves potential draftees this season.

While one of them has been widely known in 6’8” Central African guard Thierry Darlan, the other is far less discussed, yet may have a clearer path to the NBA: Egyptian center Abdullah Ahmed.
